Development of Interior Life

For Christians to fulfil their individual purpose and to benefit  the church as a whole, there is a need to deepen in the interior life. Each of us individually has to internalize the faith and deepen our understanding. If we can do that the church will grow in holiness which is what is desperately needed right now. Christ contemplated in prayer then becomes the fire to ignite apostolic zeal and a multitude of services and works .

None of us know him well enough. How can you know God completely, he is so vast? So on one level we all have need of the interior life. It benefits us all. If we are nearing the end of our life we need to get to know God more for final perseverance.

If we are parents  we need to get to know God more as we have the mission of co-redeeming our teenagers and children. You can’t do this unless you know where you are headed , how to get there and know the tools to use to pass the faith on. If we are teenagers  we especially need to learn how to internalize the faith or we will not become the saints we are called to be.

Internalizing the faith is the only way of gaining eternal life and securing the future of the Church. Internalization is brought about through the interior life.

The interior life is our life of relationship with God. It includes all the different ways of feeding the soul and relating our faith to our life in every moment. It forms the basis of what is known as the plan of life. The plan in other words of how we will actually achieve the end we say we want to achieve i.e. eternal life.
If we fail to plan, we plan to fail .

To this end if anyone would like instruction to deepen their faith please contact Jocelyn Owens 0n 01257 464813 or jocelyn@nwmanagementsolutions.co.uk

SVP at the Ark

Some of you may have noticed, a banner attached to the railing in front of the Ecumenical Centre, Skelmersdale saying SVP at the Ark. This is a Special Project set up by Our Lady & All Saints (OLAS) SVP, mainly funded by the National SVP but also by OLAS SVP.

The Ark has been operating from the Ecumenical Centre, Skelmersdale for about 22 years.
It provides assistance to needy people and
ex-veterans and see about 90 people each week. About 2/3rds of these are coming to obtain food vouchers, which the Ark issue on behalf of the Trussel Trust.
The rest are seeking advice and help.

Help for Homeless

They often see 3 or more rough sleepers each week and will try to help them find accommodation; if they can’t they will provide them with a tent and sleeping bag.

Signposting

They put people in touch with the health services and two NHS nurses attend once a week to offer support.

SVP Special Project

Last year Our Lady & All Saints SVP set up a Special Project to support the Ark and assist them with their work, as The Ark was about to cease functioning due to lack of funding and support.
OLAS SVP was able to help by obtaining funding from the SVP National Office and has since assisted them with insurance, banking, their charitable status and safeguarding.

We have helped them pay their rent, assisted with their Christmas toys project, their Winter Warm Coats project (many of which were supplied by OLAS parishioners) and the purchase of tents, sleeping bags and Farmfoods Vouchers.

Most of the Ark volunteers have now, at their own request, become SVP members. It is hoped that the Ark will eventually set up their own SVP Conference and become financially
self-sufficient.

Thank you to OLAS parishioners.
